We’re very aware that we spend much of our time discussing the implementation of proper supplements into your daily routine. However, we feel that it's imperative to outline some of the basic factors of health and nutrition that has been researched and brought forth by nutritional professionals, like those who own and operate the Garden of Life. In fact, we plan to outline some of the key components of good nutrition and good health as indicated by the health pros at the Garden of Life.
First of all, it is important to maintain a proper level of nutrition naturally. While taking a vitamin supplement is often beneficial for the human body, a vitamin supplement will be less beneficial if you aren't consuming a nutritious diet to begin with. Taking a multivitamin but still eating fast food every day is bound to result in less than adequate health. Consuming proper nutrient classes (i.e., protein, fat, and carbs) will help to ensure that your body is absorbing all necessary minerals and vitamins.
As you already know, the body requires an exact amount of protein each and every day to repair tissue and provide support for other bodily functions. The minimum requirement most people need for protein consumption is between 53 and 63 grams. Again, this is the minimum protein requirement. Protein can be consumed through the food, as well as through high quality protein powders and protein supplements.
Contrary to popular belief, your body also needs a certain amount of fat to function properly. The saturated fats we often consume are typically unstable. The most beneficial fats for the human body are polyunsaturated fats. This is the type of fat that is found in olive oil, fish oils, and other essentials. Believe it or not, Omega 3 (a type of fat) is proven to help prevent heart arrhythmia, as well as sudden cardiac death.
Another nasty word in health and nutrition is carbohydrates. Another myth is that the body can function properly without the intake of carbohydrates. Unfortunately, far too many people make the mistake of avoiding carbs altogether, thereby limiting brain function and performance levels. While it is a good idea to limit carbohydrate intake, it's not a good idea to eliminate carb intake altogether.
Finally, in order to maintain a high quality level of health, it's important to consume a quality multivitamin. Good multivitamins can help support natural bodily functions, while bridging the gap over any nutritional void. It's very common for people on the standard American diet to suffer from nutritional voids on a regular basis.
Stay tuned for more posting on nutritional basics. It's important to educate yourself on your nutritional needs in order to maintain optimum health.
